Giving Tree Volunteers

Giving Tree is again on the march. Next month a team of volunteers from Lone Tree and surrounding areas will be collecting supplies for needy students. Across the county almost 4000 students qualified for "free and reduced" lunches this past school year, 149 in our three Lone Tree elementary schools. We will collect school supplies and money to buy supplies for these children: pencils, paper, notebooks, crayons, glue sticks, backpacks, etc., …primarily for Lone Tree kids but also for children from elsewhere in the district. In September, all children should be equipped and ready to start class.

To collect donations of school supplies and cash, we will have a kiosk set up at Park Meadows Mall food court the weekend of July 24-26, and a tent at the summer concert at Sweetwater Park on Saturday evening July 25. In addition several area restaurants will be donating some of their revenues to aid these children… more on this later.

We want you on our team! Here is how volunteers can help:

· Deliver posters the week of July 6 to Lone Tree businesses (5 or 6 volunteers needed.)

· Man the kiosk at the food court (sign up for 2 or 3 hour shifts.)

o Friday July 24: 10am to noon, noon to 2pm, 4pm to 6, 6pm to 8.

o Saturday July 25: 10am to noon, noon to 2pm, 2 to 5pm.

o Sunday July 26: noon to 2, 2 to 4.

· Man the tent at the summer concert from 6 to 8pm (3-4 volunteers needed.)
