Senior Property Tax Exemption

I realize that this will likely apply to no one in the Enclave, but perhaps you know of someone it does apply to and can let them know...

Owners of residential real estate (owner occupants) who were 65 or older and owned and lived in their house for 10 consecutive years as of January 1, 2013 are eligible for tax relief on up to $100,000 of appraised value of the home.  I think what this means is that you could have your property tax reduced by as much as $700 on a typical Enclave house (if my math is right - no guarantees there, but hopefully...)

At any rate, you should check out the link below. The explanation and forms, along with instructions for how to get the credit, are shown.  The deadline for application for this year is July 15, 2013.  As I understand it, once you apply and are approved, you don't have to do it again.

Kudos to Enclave resident Linda Martin for bringing this to my attention.  Information like this that you think might be helpful to other Enclave residents is always welcome.
